Guillermo Forchino (Argentinian, b. 1952) - In the beginning, Guillermo Forchino’s whimsical piece of a dictator afloat in a bathtub soon blossomed into a complete parade of vehicle-themed art. Tanks, speedboats, racecars and motorcycles—Guillermo’s stable of humorous characters and their various modes of transport keeps growing. His wonderful limited edition sculptures are now produced in resin and hand-painted to bring every detail to life. Some pieces are mixed media—with bits of string, wire and artificial grass adding an extra touch of realism. Read More

Guillermo Forchino creates comic sculptures with a lighthearted sense of fun and color. From his Parisian studio he looks at humanity with a wry eye and a Gallic shrug. Using the exaggerations of caricature, this comic sculptor magnifies our flaws to create humorous characters that we can all recognize and see something of ourselves in.

Born in Argentina to Italian parents, Guillermo Forchino attended art school in Rosario, Argentina then continued his studies in Paris at the Sorbonne. He was trained in all the classical techniques, but finally focused on art restoration and conservation. The Museum of Beaux-Arts in Argentina hired him as director of art restoration and he worked in this position for several years, but the siren song of the City of Lights never quite left him.

After his first child was born, he and his wife were determined to return to France. Their chance came when a friend offered them the loan of a small studio space in Paris. Although the artist had dabbled in painting, sculpture was his first love and he set out to make a niche for himself.

In 1985 he worked with two other artists on an exhibition about insane asylums. Forchino’s contributions were wrapped and contorted figures of inmates made of papier-mâché, wax and cloth. This work led to experiments with various sculpting materials for the new line of comic sculpture he was developing. His sculptures are now made with a mixed combo platter of epoxy resin, plastering, clay and papier-mâché.

"Forchino's works are terrific statement pieces for the home as well as 'giftable artwork' for that hard-to-buy-for person.”

Each sculpture is individually hand numbered and wrapped in a unique Forchino newspaper. Enclosed in each package, a booklet with the Forchino autobiography and pictures of a selection of Forchino collection can be found. A unique and numbered certificate of authenticity completes each package.

Forchino’s sculptures can be found in select fine art galleries throughout North America. Art Leaders Gallery is an exclusive carrier for Forchino’s work in Michigan.

"Thanks to his new classic Ford Mustang, Charly was sure that the beautiful Ellen would accept his invitation to take a trip to the cliffs along the coast, an ideal location to seduce her. He would park the car at a seaside spot and put an arm around Ellen’s shoulder. The young woman will look at him tenderly and they would exchange a passionate kiss. The big-bang of the origin of the universe wasn’t anything compared to what Charly felt at that moment. The scarlet red that Ellen’s lips left on his cheek was the best trophy he could show his friends. Plus the red went perfectly with the color of his convertible and was also the same color as his favorite football team. A perfect day."

"Chris was a happy man, without the least doubt, a winner. “Fortune smiles at the courageous” he had the habit of saying. His schedule was always overbooked. When he wasn’t on a business trip he was at his office giving orders, talking on the mobile phone, sending messages and emails or buying and selling shares. A hyperactive. When he traveled by plane, it was always in business class and taking advantage of his VIP status.

He wore only custom-made Italian shoes, English tailored suits and best quality shirts. He slept but 4 hours a night, dreaming of financial markets and stock options. He saw himself as future president of the company, until one day………a huge wave of stress and a terrible nervous breakdown led him to re-think his life. He bought a mountain cabin, a hammock for two and from time to time went butterfly hunting. Chris is really a happy guy."

Almost as if time had stopped, the zinc counter, which had so many times witnessed good and bad times, had hardly changed. The odor of fresh coffee brought out the image of the unforgettable Nino, a waiter who was so understanding and who generously filled our glasses and always gave us credit when we were in need. How could we forget the long talks among friends around a drink or the day where “Big Nose” went on his memorable bender and we had to carry him all the way to his place. And how could we forget the time where “Li’l Cassis” having had one too many, wanted to recite a poem, climbed up on a chair, and couldn’t but babble a few jumbled noises before falling in a heap on the table, knocking over bottles, glasses, cups and everything that was in his way. Ah, “La Belle Époque!”  Magnificent morsels of life, always engraved in my memory

"Doctor José Batle was a recognized expert in his field. His diagnoses, always exact, saved the lives of hundreds of people and earned him the admiration of high society. Everything was going perfectly until the day when, arrived to his office, the most well-known actress in Hollywood, the ravishing Marilyn Hayworth, victim of a sprained little finger.

Without wasting an instant, Doctor Batle had the patient take off her clothes to assure himself that she had no other complications anywhere on her body. After a thorough and detailed examination, he confirmed that…he had fallen deeply in love.

The diva thanked him for all his diligent attention and left the office leaving in the air behind her a suggestive perfume of camellia. Ever since that day, Doctor Batle never stops thinking of the great Marilyn, hoping that she sprains another finger so that he can perform a new examination, this time even more detailed."

"At the “Crazy Hair” beauty salon, it’s the newest trends and fashionable concepts that prevail. The head stylist, Rossano Alessandro, created a fortifying hair treatment from Red Sea algae mixed with beaver urine, purple garlic from China, caviar from the Caspian and camembert from Normandy. His clients who love being at the edge of fashion were ready to do anything for a chance to have his capillary fortifying treatment. The experience is amazing. They stay for hours chatting while the magnificent balm takes effect. The perfume they inhale recalls the pomp of the court of Versailles and the noble scents that gave that place its rank and distinction. However, it is a little difficult to keep the flies away."

An informer had warned police that a large quantity of drugs were going to be delivered near the beltway across the street from the motel “Las Brujas”.  Immediately the unit that was on patrol near the location where the deal was going to be down, was called urgently to the scene. Via the internet, the photo of the main suspect, the terrible “Carrot Top”, was sent directly to the patrol car’s on-board computer.  Lieutenant Steve O’Connor, seeing the portrait, felt a strong pain in his stomach.  The resemblance with the suspect was unsettling. Angie, the policewoman as his side, looked at the photo and said, a little troubled, “I have the impression that I’ve seen this guy before.”  Cold drops of sweat trickled down the forehead of Lieutenant O’Connor, who was trying to hide his face,  said “It’s amazing how all us redheads look alike! …It’s like the Chinese, we all look alike.”

"Doctor is this going to hurt much?” the terrorized patient asked Mariluz León, the dentist at the “Happy Teeth” clinic who, a little impatient, was waiting with a drill in her hand. “Of course it won’t, dear, you won’t feel a thing!” she answered trying to calm him down. “Listen, this is how we are going to proceed, take this tube of toothpaste in your hand and, if it hurts too much, squeeze the tube a little to calm yourself down.” The doctor started the drill and even before putting it into his mouth, the patient squeezed the tube so hard that toothpaste splattered on the ceiling and the doctor found her face covered with it as if someone had thrown a pie in her face."

"The defendant was accused of assault with a firearm and the robbery of two chickens and six eggs. Despite the testimony of four witnesses, the discovery of hundreds of feathers in his house, without speaking of a stew pot full of chicken bones and an old frying pan with leftovers of an omelette, the famous lawyer Mario Puzotti, at the end of an eloquent defence, managed to persuade the jury of his client’s innocence and to convince them that the true guilty one was society. The accused was freed ipso facto and, under thundering applause and cries from the public of “encore, encore,” the talented lawyer was obliged to return several times to bow to his frenzied audience."

"When he was young, Juan Teruggi loved to help his grandmother, especially when she baked cakes, in licking the batter covered spoon. He always knew that he would be a cook but not just any cook; he would be a “Master Chef”.

After two years of study at the most prestigious culinary schools the day of his final exam arrived. The jury asked him to prepare…..a fried egg! Without showing the slightest surprise at such an unexpected request, adopting a professional style and with the elegance of a classical dancer, he started to heat the olive oil and butter. He cracked the egg, separated the whites which he began to cook. He added salt and pepper and after a minute, with a magnificent and heroic movement of his hand, placed the yolk in the center. Two minutes later he pulled the frying pan from the fire, served the egg on a large plate of porcelain, decorated it with two branches of chive and lightly powered the edges with paprika to add a little color. Spinning in a pirouette with an expression full of pride and with great reverence, presented it to the members of the jury.

Everything would have been a tremendous success if only the egg had not slided off the plate and landed at the feet of the jury."

When he came walking towards me in that nonchalant way, I should have been more suspicious of that innocent look. Especially when he asked me if we need dice to play chess. But because he seemed interested, I suggested we play a match. At first, he refused pretending that he didn’t know how to play, that it must be very difficult, and that I must be an expert…he finally sat down. I told him to start with whites because he was a beginner. After barely 15 minutes, he completely surrounded me, eliminating any possible move. I couldn’t do anything to avoid a sure checkmate; he destroyed me.  He looked at me with a smile, raised his coffee cup as it to give a toast and told me: “What can I do? Beginner’s luck. “ That night, I didn’t sleep a wink.
