Guillermo Forchino (Argentinian, b. 1952) - In the beginning, Guillermo Forchino’s whimsical piece of a dictator afloat in a bathtub soon blossomed into a complete parade of vehicle-themed art. Tanks, speedboats, racecars and motorcycles—Guillermo’s stable of humorous characters and their various modes of transport keeps growing. His wonderful limited edition sculptures are now produced in resin and hand-painted to bring every detail to life. Some pieces are mixed media—with bits of string, wire and artificial grass adding an extra touch of realism. Read More

Guillermo Forchino creates comic sculptures with a lighthearted sense of fun and color. From his Parisian studio he looks at humanity with a wry eye and a Gallic shrug. Using the exaggerations of caricature, this comic sculptor magnifies our flaws to create humorous characters that we can all recognize and see something of ourselves in.

Born in Argentina to Italian parents, Guillermo Forchino attended art school in Rosario, Argentina then continued his studies in Paris at the Sorbonne. He was trained in all the classical techniques, but finally focused on art restoration and conservation. The Museum of Beaux-Arts in Argentina hired him as director of art restoration and he worked in this position for several years, but the siren song of the City of Lights never quite left him.

After his first child was born, he and his wife were determined to return to France. Their chance came when a friend offered them the loan of a small studio space in Paris. Although the artist had dabbled in painting, sculpture was his first love and he set out to make a niche for himself.

In 1985 he worked with two other artists on an exhibition about insane asylums. Forchino’s contributions were wrapped and contorted figures of inmates made of papier-mâché, wax and cloth. This work led to experiments with various sculpting materials for the new line of comic sculpture he was developing. His sculptures are now made with a mixed combo platter of epoxy resin, plastering, clay and papier-mâché.

"Forchino's works are terrific statement pieces for the home as well as 'giftable artwork' for that hard-to-buy-for person.”

Each sculpture is individually hand numbered and wrapped in a unique Forchino newspaper. Enclosed in each package, a booklet with the Forchino autobiography and pictures of a selection of Forchino collection can be found. A unique and numbered certificate of authenticity completes each package.

Forchino’s sculptures can be found in select fine art galleries throughout North America. Art Leaders Gallery is an exclusive carrier for Forchino’s work in Michigan.

"Thanks to his new classic Ford Mustang, Charly was sure that the beautiful Ellen would accept his invitation to take a trip to the cliffs along the coast, an ideal location to seduce her. He would park the car at a seaside spot and put an arm around Ellen’s shoulder. The young woman will look at him tenderly and they would exchange a passionate kiss. The big-bang of the origin of the universe wasn’t anything compared to what Charly felt at that moment. The scarlet red that Ellen’s lips left on his cheek was the best trophy he could show his friends. Plus the red went perfectly with the color of his convertible and was also the same color as his favorite football team. A perfect day."

"The accountant, Angel Milicic, has a phobia about calculators and his boss insists that he use them at work. But, he doesn’t want anything to do with them, he prefers mental calculation. “A multiplication, a division, a percentage is calculated much faster counting on your fingers than using a machine”, affirms Milicic. Of course, he often has trouble with the end of year accounts, or with tax returns, or salaries, or even supplier accounts, but his technique maintains an alert mind and keeps him lively as per the recommendations of his family doctor, and that…is the most important thing."

"The deafening sound of a siren hammered the ear drums of the people in the street. An ambulance crossed town at high speed. Two accident victims with broken limbs, multiple contusions and various other injuries were being transported to the emergency room. A young nurse with an exuberant body and shapely curves was providing very sensual emergency care which made them forget all suffering. Meanwhile, the driver suffered from a slight strabismus though it did not prevent him from swerving dangerously through the hundreds of cars who, at that hour, clogged the roads of the town. He just missed two light poles, grazed 14 cars, hit two motorcyclists and rammed a truck, but his orders were to arrive as fast as possible. The first to be taken to the emergency room was the paramedic who had been sitting next to the driver; he had arrived unconscious with symptoms of cardiac arrest."

A pleasant smell of wood smoke floated in the air. The workers of the bakery were at full pace, before sunrise as usual. “You need to knead the dough completely” said Hugo Giuffrida with an assuring tone from his 30 years of experience. Shirtless to support the heat of the oven, Hugo worked the dough on the large wooden table, took it in his two hands and with a perfect movement, lifted it up and threw it against his back covered with sweat, he repeated the movement again and again, first over the left shoulder then the right. “The technique gives an excellent texture to the dough”, he declared. “And plus, the dough is naturally salted."

"Three years ago, when the famous Icelandic volcano erupted, the immense spread of land owned by Chief Executive Officer Richard John Goldsilver was covered by 30 cm of ashes which drove the man to the brink of bankruptcy. More than a few thought that it was the end to his empire, but that was not counting on the perspicacity and business acumen of the chief executive. He had the good idea to put the ashes into sacs and sell them as a high quality powder to polish metals, but also in mixing them with almond oil, he made a cream that was effective in toning skin and eliminating wrinkles. His fortune was multiplied by five. And that’s not all; he is patiently waiting for the next eruption."

"Abel Robino rode unperturbed on his magnificent motorcycle. He knew that women were crazy about him. They adored his beautiful tattoos, his athletic physique and his luring profile. Robino, however, had only eyes for his motorcycle. The only thing that interested him in the entire world was to speed to Sturgis City to attend, in August, the legendary and fabulous Black Hills Motor Classic. After 10 years of uninterrupted riding, he had acquired both experience and self confidence, but what he without a doubt had caught, was an insupportable irritation on his rear end. While letting nothing appear on his face, he continued his route expressionless, like a knight of modern times."

"Even if it looked like rain, Bob wanted to play golf at all costs. It really wasn’t easy, but he managed to convince Steve, his best friend, to play a game. After having selected the perfect club for a rainy day, Bob prepared for his first swing when a black cloud began to cover the sky. He raised the club above his shoulders in a perfect backswing. A few small drops began to wet the green, but he concentrated on where he was going to hit the ball, he raised his iron a little higher when….lightening struck barely ten meters away. Even if he was still shaking three days later, he managed to make the longest drive in history. We still haven’t found the ball."

"Miss Belkys tapped at her machine with one finger, not understanding anything about computers, speaking no foreign languages, and on top of that hating accounting and business meetings. Despite these small inconveniences, the day of her interview with the president, Mr. Raúl López Monti, she stood out among the 25 best educated candidates in the city and obtained, without too much effort, the coveted position of personal secretary. As always, there were some jealous ones who said it was because of her plunging neckline and tight fitting skirt. Belkys convinced herself that she earned the position thanks to the intensive marketing course which she took by correspondence at the Institute of Middle Studies in Tijuana. The following day and in a rush, the president left with her on a business trip for a week at Paradise Beach, a trip that finally had to be extended to a month. Back to the office, the new secretary asked for a raise which was immediately granted. Moreover, her boss announced that she had been an excellent assistant despite the fact that she hadn’t taken a single note, because she had forgotten all the files at the office."

"Chris was a happy man, without the least doubt, a winner. “Fortune smiles at the courageous” he had the habit of saying. His schedule was always overbooked. When he wasn’t on a business trip he was at his office giving orders, talking on the mobile phone, sending messages and emails or buying and selling shares. A hyperactive. When he traveled by plane, it was always in business class and taking advantage of his VIP status.

He wore only custom-made Italian shoes, English tailored suits and best quality shirts. He slept but 4 hours a night, dreaming of financial markets and stock options. He saw himself as future president of the company, until one day………a huge wave of stress and a terrible nervous breakdown led him to re-think his life. He bought a mountain cabin, a hammock for two and from time to time went butterfly hunting. Chris is really a happy guy."

"The powerful motor of the Formula 1 roars like savage beast. In the second lap of the race he is already in the lead. In the cockpit is an inferno. When he has only two laps to go before crossing the finish line, the famous pilot Didier Hoft, feels a tremor in the left front tire and sees a pair of screws flying in the air. He stops for exactly 4 seconds at the pits where his efficient mechanics, thanks to some duc tape, manage to repair the damage. He immediately takes off like a rocket, spewing thick black smoke and finds himself on the last lap, only one second from the leader. In the last turn, thanks to an incredible and spectacular maneuver, with several centimeters to the finish line, he succeeds in passing his rival. Thanks to the win, he is crowned the uncontested world champion, ending yet again, another exceptional year."
