Vandermark Merritt Glass
Vandermark Merrritt Glass Studios, Branchburg, NJ, founded in 1972, is a small group of American artists working together to create a fine quality hand-made Art Glass for today’s discerning collectors. VMGS has built its reputation with museum quality colonial reproductions, original Art Glass in the Nouveau and Deco traditions, crystal sculpture, contemporary designs and exquisite Cameo creations. VMGS artwork is represented in many of America’s major museums, as well as many of the most prestigious private collections.
There are several techniques employed in making cased floral vases. Colored glass rods and glass millefiori are used to create the distinct flowers that are cased and suspended in molten crystal glass. The crystal glass is then blown and hand formed into its final shape. The piece is then polished, signed and given a number for its limited edition.
It is important to understand that the color in the vase and flowers are not painted on with paints. The piece is completely made of glass. Also, VMGS is proud that they have developed and use all their own colors and glass formulas. The product starts with raw materials, sand, soda ask, potash and metal oxides, and finishes with these beautiful pieces.
