“Glass is the medium that best reflects my innermost feelings. When approaching glass in its fluid state, I am deeply moved by the metamorphosis from a molten state to the solidified shape of my design.” – David Thai

Chinese Canadian glass artist David Thai emigrated from Vietnam in 1985, travelling extensively before eventually calling Ontario home.  He completed his business degree at Toronto’s Ryerson University in 1998, and went on to graduate from Sheridan College with a specialization in Glassblowing in 2002. After schooling, he spent several years as a full-time resident and instructor at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto. Most recently, David has teamed up with three other well known Canadian glass blowers to form Kingston Glass Studio & Gallery, a studio based out of Kingston, Ontario.

David references Italian glass artist Livio Segusa when he says that glass is a material that seems to be born out of the sea to live in the air, shaped by fire; it fascinates and ignites the imagination. His unique hand-blown glass vessels, wave bowls, and vases can be found in select fine art galleries through Canada and the United States
